USA 1970 Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer, directed by Ralph Nelson & Unknown Director Movie availability: Not currently available on VHS or DVD Starring: Jim Brown; George Kennedy; Clifton James; Short Summary: Jimmy Price (Brown) is elected as Colusa County's first balck sheriff against the will of the Ku Klux Klan. Price is told to arrest a wealthy young white man and later that day his Vietnam veteran deputy is beaten up by the ex-sheriff's former partner. Price goes on to arrest black militant George Harley for rape. Price is threatened by the white man's father and Price is assisted by John Little who becomes his deputy. A mob gathers and Price asks the mayor for help from federal troops. The mayor stalls, Price and Little prepare for the mob, and at the last moment they're joined by by men from a local whites-only bar. Movie summary written by Whytie
