One of Schifrin's most rare later scores, this soundtrack dates from 1980 and is taken from the Telly Savalas / Richard Roundtree B-movie 'Escape To Athena'. One of Schifrin's most critically-acclaimed scores, he uses a zither to emphasise the Greek setting of the movie throughout the album. Unfortunately, zithers don't make for great funk. There are a couple of brighter moments, when the big band kicks in on Water, Fire and Mines, and certainly plenty of sampleable riffs. The best funk moment is the end theme, performed by Heatwave, called 'Keep tomorrow for me'. In funk terms, not a classic LP.
