Sol Madrid featured Telly Savalas, David McCallum and Stella Stevens in an underworld thriller. The job of scoring the film went to 'Hollywood's fastest-rising musical talent - Lalo Schifrin'. The liner notes are correct. Schifrin gives the score a heavy jazz and latin flavour - there's a superb hard bop / free jazz number in 'The Burning Candle', and plenty of percussion throughout the LP. The best groovy track is the psychedelic guitar workout 'The Golden Trip'. A good album, entertaining and stimulating listening.
