Another great album from the time when Schifrin was really making his mark in the soundtrack industry. Very hard to find and thus far not reissued, the Mannix soundtrack is a strong blend of crime jazz and edgy late 60's funk. By this stage elements of Schifrin's later work are starting to appear - some of this album is reminiscent of Dirty Harry. Similar in feel to Bullitt with an extra funk edge. The theme's an excellent jazz waltz; if you prefer a harder groove, listen to "Fear" and "The Shadow".
