This album looks like a cash-in compilation LP from an initial glance, with its 'Academy Award Winner' strapline on the front cover. However, the track listing is diverse, and includes tracks from an otherwise-unissued Legrand score called 'La Piscine'. The reason that this is significant is that all of the music from that film is outstanding - it shows Legrand at the peak of his powers. Everything on here is jazzy with a French pop edge, and universally listenable: best track is the superb downtempo contemplative groover 'Ask Yourself Why' from 'la Piscine'.
