Naked Ape, The

Playboy Enterprises put together an exploitation movie to cash in on the craze for Desmond Morris' early 70s anthropology classic The Naked Ape, and asked Jimmy Webb to write the music. The LP, complete with Planet Of The Apes-style cover, includes a series of pseudo-intellectual voiceovers and a number of pretty terrible songs played in a variety of genres. Most interesting are the drum-based tracks - there's a good orchestral funker with open break in Gymnasts' Ballet, and a bizarre prog-funk with voiceover classic in The Elephant Hunt. Of more interest to producers and samplers - still worth a dig.
