Dharmatma Kalyanji Anandji EMI Odeon (India) EALP 4062, 1975
Dharmatma album cover

Without question, one of the most consistently funky, tough Bollywood soundtracks we've heard (and believe us, we've heard hundreds). Mostly instrumental, there are three killer versions of the main theme. A flute version is the outstanding choice (bearing a passing resemblance to El Condor Pasa, but that just adds to the appeal), while the trumpet and vocal is good. There's also a great uptempo funky track with some crazy screams and sounds that's bound to fill the leftfield dancefloor. Highly recommended. Big, loud, tight drums, lashing of wah, flute and bass... excellent.

Overall Rating: 4
