Vivre La Nuit Claude Bolling Philips B 77.754 L, 1967
Vivre La Nuit album cover

Check out the cover - it's a 60s teen party movie! With Serge Gainsbourg! This album simply cannot be a bad one - all the signs that make a soundtrack digger's pulse race are there. Hard to find it certainly is, but this is a really excellent party record - uptempo, funky, soulful, packed with clanky electric bass, massive organ, choppy guitar, and cool funky jazz cuts. A winner on every count - drop the needle on any cut and you're in for a treat. Even the French poppy vocal cuts are winners! Not for the hardcore funk fans, but anyone who digs 60s beaty funk will love it. Oh, and there's one open hard hip-hop break waiting to be ripped off too. Top stuff! Highly recommended!

Overall Rating: 4
