Big Blue Marble Various A&M SP-3401, 1974
Big Blue Marble album cover

As with so many childrens' TV programmes of the early 1970s, this soundtrack from '...the first worldwide childrens' TV series' features a pre-disco funk ensemble backing a variety of children on vocals. This album has a varied, odd sound and the recording levels of the backing tracks swing wildly from one song to the next. However, you'll find a few interesting funk moments, such as 'Hoopin', amongst the standard 1970s material. Worth checking out if you have a taste for the odd!

Overall Rating: 3
