James Caan starred with Candice Bergen in this 1971 Paramount movie. The soundtrack is easier to find in its Canadian pressing (shown here). Jack Elliott's score contains elements of jazz, blues and soul in pleasing proportions. The instrumentation is a good blend for funk; Elliott lets rip with a great, raw funk jam on 'McGuire's Rock'. Wah guitar and a huge beat underpin strong horn stabs - pick up the album for this one great track.
